Sensor and LED controller In this video We will look at a new feature of Door Tablet controlling a set of motion detectors and LED lights from a single Door Tablet unit We will show the configuration that is required from the web UI We will explain how this feature works and how to test it is working correctly The devices that we are showing here are the LED lights that go on top of doors and motion sensors, one of which is currently hidden by a cardboard box We connect to these devices using some additional hardware This is the Door Tablet ABX, or the Qbic FDH-100, which is shown here Beneath that we have a device that controls the motion sensors and LED lights In the FDH-100 we have a new Door Tablet application that controls the light on command from Door tablet end points such as the AIOs or NXTs So, these devices are slaves to the door tablet displays outside your workspaces The Door Tablet end-points know all the schedules, and they control the lights They also receive movement information using the sensors from inside the workspaces and pass this on to the displays outside the room This helps provide a better user experience when it comes to the visibility of workspace features and the movement of people in workspaces Let’s have a look at what is involved in configuring the controller First, we log in to the Door Tablet web UI Go to the ‘System Profile’ Then go to the tab that says ‘Sensors, Monitoring, Assistance’ and tick ‘Sensors Enabled’ Then we go to ‘Spaces’ Open a space that will connect to the controller Go to the tab where we see ‘Sensors’ listed Door Tablet can connect to several technologies here We can use the sensors from Crestron, Qbic multi-sensory LEDs and the Door Tablet homegrown infrastructure for motion sensors and air quality monitors To use the Qbic multi sensor system, or our sensor and LED controller we simply need to add port 38301 at the end of the IP address of the sensor controller We have 5 different pairs connected to each controller One is an LED light and the other is a motion sensor We need to select which pair we want to use from a range of 1 to 5 Every 5 workspaces with this system will use one pair and if we need to use more we need another sensor controller and another collection of sensors and LED lights Now we submit this page and we will see what we need to do from the app on the tablet We connect to the server For this workspace we can see the IP address we are using we know where this sensor controller is, and it shows that we are using sensor pair 1 To bring this information into the local settings we need to open the workspace, and then immediately leave Now we go to the 'Local Settings' We can see we have the information again, the IP address and the pair number If the external devices are disabled, uncheck this box We can do some testing to check the system is working correctly Simply, click on ‘Test’ The tablet sends a message to the LED lights to go off, green and red repeatedly As we also have a motion sensor connected to the same pair if we remove the box that currently hides the sensor, we can see what will happen The motion has been detected The motion detection will remain on for about a minute before it goes off Now we are hiding the motion sensor and provided there is no motion during that time it will go off and say nobody is using the workspace anymore The bright blue symbol here indicating motion will disappear We can see it is now gone and it has told us that no motion has been detected The LED lights will keep on rotating until we tell them to stop The time that it takes for motion detection to indicate that there is no more motion is built into the system and cannot be changed It is important to have this delay so that when people come in and out in a short space of time we don’t have the motion sensors going on and off constantly If we lift the box off our motion sensor again we can see that motion has once again been detected When we are done with the testing we click ‘Done’ Now we will look at the sensor controller The sensor controller is an android app that needs to be installed on the Door Tablet ABX or the FDH-100 and it controls the devices and LED lights It provides the communication to and from the Door Tablet endpoints to the sensors and LEDs Let’s have a look at the application that runs on the Door Tablet ABX or FDH-100 This is the screen we will see on either of these devices It looks like any normal Door Tablet app that is about to run on a display The content field has the Android Activity This is a different APK that we provide and it is specifically designed to be a sensor and LED controller We click ‘Play’ to start it and now we can see the application starting As the sensor controller sends information about its live state to the Door Tablet server it needs to connect to it in the normal way We click on the server we have selected and login The system then shows us the status of sensors and LEDs We can set it to automatically refresh the status of the devices If we click on 'Auto Refresh' that will stay on that mode for around 10 minutes When the Sensor and LED controller is deployed there is no need to observe the status of the sensors and LEDs so this feature is turned off by default As we can see, this first LED light is currently off and that’s why it is not showing, and the motion sensor is covered by a box showing no movement We will now use the testing part of Door Tablet to send the controller signals We can see the system is now sending signals to the lights and listening to the motion sensor If we look at this from the sensor controller we can see as the light changes, the controller also changes showing us the status of things Now we will remove the box cover over the motion sensor As we can see it has detected motion and is showing this here Now if we cover the sensor again the symbol will go dark in around a minute This is just for observation, to check everything is working ok Thank you for watching
Door Tablet can combine occupancy information with meeting room booking and workspace management.
