Connecting to Google Workspace In this video We will show you how to connect the Door Tablet Server to Google Workspace At this point you should have already installed the Door Tablet server and have workspaces set up in Google Workspace We will also show how to check your connection Finally, we will show how to synchronise and activate your rooms Before we begin we recommend that you have consulted the Door Tablet documentation on this subject Then log in to the Door Tablet web UI To get Door Tablet to work with Google Workspace we must secure the Door tablet server so that it runs using HTTPS In this case Door Tablet already runs with HTTPS and we will use this server for the purpose of this video Generally, we recommend using a public CA to obtain certificates but you may use your own certificate authority To configure Door Tablet to work securely using HTTPS go to ‘DB and LAN’ select HTTP sites we will explain this further in another video Now go to the ‘System Profile’ When we begin the fields will be empty We will now fill them to indicate that we want to connect to Google Workspace Next to ‘Technology’ select ‘Google Workspace’ Door Tablet uses three-legged authentication for the communication between the Door Tablet server and the Google Workspace server Three-legged authentication is documented in a variety of places including on Google.com We will now switch to the Google Workspace environment to create an application enable security, enable calendar sharing and bring data to the Door Tablet server to establish the connection Again, we recommend that you follow the steps in our documentation when working on the Google Workspace admin To find the documentation click on ‘Resources’ then ‘Documentation’ and then ‘Product Manual’ Scroll down on the navigator to the Google Workspace area In this case the first document shows how to create resources in Google Workspace Before continuing with this video make sure you have already done this There is also a link here that takes you to Google Workspace admin Let’s click on that link and log in to our account Let’s go back to the documentation We need to enable API access Click on the first link that is shown here a new window will be opened in the Google Workspace admin When we open the cloud console, we will see our applications if we have any If we don’t have any, this screen will look slightly different We will create a new application by clicking here Then click on ‘New Project’ Next, we name the project Click on ‘Create’ The Door Tablet training project has been created and we can now edit it Now we will click on ‘Enable APIs and services’ As Google Workspace offers many API’s we should use a filter to narrow the choices We type ‘Workspace’ here and click on ‘Google Workspace’ We need to select the 2 APIs that we require The first is the 'Google Calendar API' Let’s click on it and then click ‘Enable’ Then repeat the process but this time we will add the 'Gmail API' And again, enable it We can review all the APIs that are enabled for a project by scrolling down We only require the two we have just mentioned you can delete the others if you wish Next, we will enable the authentication between the Door Tablet server and Google Workspace The next chapter in the documentation explains how to do this Click on ‘Credentials’ and then ‘Configure Consent Screen’ Select ‘Internal’ and click ‘Create’ We type the app name which must be written in this way door_tablet Scroll down and click ‘Add Domain’ This will be the domain of the Door Tablet server in our case we are using door-tablet.com Now we can save and continue If you are prompted to fill in any additional fields we should do so We now need to add scopes These define what the application can do and what access it has If we go back to the documentation we can see the scopes listed These are the 'calendar.events', 'calendar.readonly' and 'gmail.send' scopes Let’s see how we add them to our application Click on ‘Add or Remove Scopes’ The list of scopes may not include the scopes we need So, the easiest way to find them is to drop the scopes from the documentation under ‘Manually add scopes’ Copy the scopes and put them on a clipboard then paste them in Click on ‘Add to table’ And then ‘Update’ this has now added our scopes here Click ‘Save and Continue’ Google Workspace will show us a summary of the application Now we click on ‘Back to Dashboard’ And then go to ‘Credentials’ again Click on ‘Create Credentials’ We select ‘OAuth client ID’ The application type will be a Web Application We will again call it Door Tablet Trainer for consistency We need to add an authorised redirect URI Click on ‘Add URI’ The URI is shown in the Door Tablet system profile It is here in green, copy it and then paste it in ‘URI 1’ Click ‘Create’ As we can see the OAuth client was created We now have some of the key items we need to make the connection Here we have the Client ID and Client secret We can copy these by clicking here and paste them directly into the form in the system profile Our account email for this account is known so we can drop it in too We are now able to authorise the account by clicking here We are prompted to continue to Door Tablet Select the account, and allow access The authorization code is shown We click the button that says ‘Use this code’ This makes the authorization code drop into the system and we can now submit the form When we open the system profile again we can test the connection Our connection works and the system shows us that we have 20 rooms At this point we have finished setting up access and authentication from the system profile The final step is to authorise the workspace calendars to share information with this application Again, the documentation shows how to do this, but we will also go through it now When we log in to the Google workspace calendar if we have added the calendars before we will see all the appointments as shown here On the left shrink ‘My calendars’ and click on 'Other calendars’ Then click on ‘Browse resources’ Here resources are grouped together and at this stage they will be unticked These are ticked as we have had an application before Click them one by one until all the resources you wish to share have been ticked Now we have completed the Google Workspace configuration we can go to the list of spaces and synchronise with Google Workspace The system tells us it has processed and inserted our workspaces We can now go and activate each of the workspaces we want to use Let’s go into one and see if it retrieves the calendar appointments We tick ‘Active’ and we tick ‘Pro Hardware License’ if we are using professional hardware Then submit We can see here that our workspaces are not yet licensed we have another video about Licensing Door Tablet We click here to open this workspace and we can see all the appointments we have there Thank you for watching
