Tracking and configuration In this video We will show how you can update and control your devices remotely from the Door Tablet Web UI We will look at setting up hardware profiles and client tracking Finally, we will show how to remotely reboot a device Door Tablet offers controls for enterprise users so that devices can be updated and controlled remotely Log in to the Door Tablet web UI To see our devices, we go to ‘Tracking’ Here we can see all the devices that are currently connected or have been connected in the past Devices will show in different colours depending on their status Green devices are currently online The devices we see here are the Door Tablet NXT, the latest model the Door Tablet AIO, the best-selling model and as we connect to the Apple iPad, we can also see that here too We can send configurations to devices restart applications and reboot devices, all from this location Some of the following controls are only for our professional devices supplied by Qbic Technologies For other platforms, other controls are available We will first look at hardware profiles so click here Hardware profiles offer the ability to control devices both remotely from a central location, like this browser but also to create files that can be used to configure devices using a USB stick Let’s look at some device profiles that were created here We can name it and give it a version number There are a range of configuration items that can be defined here by checking or unchecking the boxes For example, we can ask the system to turn off devices for the entire day on Saturdays or Fridays and Saturdays In our case here in the United Kingdom we are going to have them off on Saturdays and Sundays We can specify the NTP server that allows us to synchronise the time on the devices We can set the time zone And by popular demand the wake and sleep times for the devices This will apply on days the devices are not turned off for the entire day We can also specify where the devices will pick up their updates for firmware and the actual application It is not required to set all these parameters; we just choose what we want to implement We click here to save the script so it can be used in USB based deployment And we click here to view it This shows what this configuration would do should it be installed on our supported devices These buttons are greyed out as they’re not actually on the appropriate hardware To configure on a USB stick follow these instructions and then plug the USB into the device It will present us with the page we saw a moment ago that allows us to implement the configuration Let’s click on ‘Client tracking’ These are devices that are currently online With this mechanism we can only push configurations to devices that are currently active and connected to our server When the endpoints pick up a schedule they will see that there is a configuration update that is required They then pull it in and implement the configuration Let’s say we want to update these two devices here We select the profile that we want Then click on ‘Apply profile’ The rotary wheel is showing which is telling us that a configuration update was sent to the devices Once the device has picked up the configuration the rotary wheels will disappear The speed of this depends on the frequency in which the devices obtain updates from the server As you can see the wheels have now disappeared We can also restart or reboot some of the devices Let’s say we want to restart this device because we are doing an application or firmware update we can do this by clicking ‘Reboot’ We can see here that the request to reboot was sent to the device As soon as the device picks it up it will reboot A side product of the reboot is that it will also perform updates if any are pending such as application or firmware upgrades Once the device starts rebooting the reboot symbol will disappear Door Tablet also offers a remote configuration utility that can be downloaded from the Door Tablet website This allows individual control over devices Our video ‘Remote configuration’ shows where to download this and how to use it Thank you for watching
