Upgrading the Door Tablet server In this video We will show how to upgrade the Door Tablet server We will show where to download the upgrade And explain what to do when the upgrade is complete 1. The first move to upgrade the server is to stop the Windows Service if it is running 2. The Door Tablet Windows Service is found in the Windows Services screen, with the name: Door Tablet Server 3. In this case the Door Tablet server has already been stopped 4. The best option is to set the start-up type to disabled, this will allow us to run the server in console mode, even if it was set to run as a service by default 5. As you can see it is now marked as disabled 6. To compare the versions, we can run the server again and you will see that it will run in a console mode. 7. So, we can see what it is doing before we do the upgrade 8. Before we continue, we can check the existing application version at the bottom of the screen in the admin web UI 9. We can see our current version is 10.8.2 and the release date 10. We are now going to upgrade it to the latest version 11. So, we need to download the software from the Door Tablet website 12. Let’s log in to our dashboard 13. Then go to ‘Downloads’ 14. We pick the first entry here which is around 21 megabytes. We can also see the version and release date here. 15. We need to agree to the terms and conditions… click the download button here… and the download will begin 16. Now we save it where we want it to go 17. It should only take a few seconds to download and be available on the local drive 18. Let’s go back to the server and shut it down an begin the installation 19. If your server is running in console mode, it will look something like this 20. We can just type the letter ‘Q’, hit return and it will shut down 21. Now we will launch the installer 22. Accept the terms and conditions 23. Click next 24. Please note that we are only doing 64 bit installations 25. Select where the server in installed 26. On this machine it is installed in the program directory 27. Next we will be prompted for the data folder 28. This will be a very similar folder to the one above 29. Click next until we get a confirmation of the files selected 30. Then click ‘Install’ 31. As you can see the installation is very quick 32. We don’t have to open the website with the online guide so we will untick that and click on ‘Finish’ 33. We’re now ready to launch the server and see how the upgrade process takes place automatically 34. Door Tablet detected that it is upgrading from the old version to the current version. It runs through the process entirely hands free and then launches the server 35. If we want to confirm the installation is complete, we can quit the server and launch it again 36. We will see that none of these updates are taking place and the server has already been updated 37. It shows the versions of what is installed and what is running is the same 38. If we now go to the browser and refresh the page, we should see the new version 39. Refresh the browser here 40. We can see the new version here; the server has been upgraded 41. Now we will check that none of the data disappeared 42. We will open the ‘system profile’ 43. We can see the setup is still in place 44. Now click ‘Check connection’ 45. We can see all our workspaces are connected 46. Let’s click on ‘Spaces’ 47. We can see all our spaces – all the data has been retained during the upgrade 48. Once done with the upgrade remember to shut the server down that currently runs in console mode 49. Re enable the service and then we can launch the service right away 50. Type the letter ‘Q’ for quit as before 51. Open ‘services’, we can see it currently is set to ‘disabled’ 52. Click ‘automatic’ and then launch the server 53.
